A time management training course is a short, practical programme that teaches staff to plan their work, set priorities and stop reacting to crisis after crisis. If you are comparing short-term management certificate courses, BOTI’s one-day course ends with a BOTI certificate of attendance. It is one of BOTI’s workplace essentials and personal effectiveness courses.
The current course runs at your offices anywhere in South Africa, live online or at a BOTI venue. The course page has the up-to-date outline and group prices.

Introduction: Time Management Training Course
Good personal time management matters in any workplace. People who use time management techniques well control their workload instead of spending each day reacting to one crisis after another. Their stress drops and their productivity rises, because they concentrate on the tasks that matter most to them and to the organisation.
This programme teaches those techniques in a practical way. Delegates build a set of skills that covers personal motivation, delegation, planning tools and crisis management. They also learn how to run meetings that are worth the time spent on them.
Who should attend
The course suits anyone who feels their day runs them, rather than the other way round. Examples include:
- administrators, personal assistants and office staff who juggle requests from several people;
- team leaders and new managers who need to plan their own work and delegate to others;
- specialists and professionals whose diaries are full of meetings and email;
- staff working in hybrid or remote teams who need a clear routine.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the day, delegates will be able to:
- set S.M.A.R.T. objectives and rank them by importance;
- use the 80/20 rule and the urgent-versus-important matrix to decide what to do first;
- plan a week with a productivity journal and break large tasks into manageable chunks;
- recognise why they procrastinate and apply practical ways to overcome it;
- organise their workspace, email and calendar to control the flow of work;
- delegate the right tasks to the right people and keep control of the outcome;
- decide whether a meeting is needed, and run it with a clear agenda when it is.

Short course or management certificate programme?
Many people searching for “management certificate programmes” want one of two things: a short course that builds a single skill quickly, or a longer qualification. This time management course is a short course. It runs for one day and ends with a BOTI certificate of attendance.
If you need a formal management qualification, BOTI offers longer routes:
- The Occupational Certificate: Office Supervisor (SAQA ID 118740) is at NQF Level 5 and carries 240 credits[1]. The last date for enrolment is 31 December 2026[1]. Like other occupational certificates, it ends in an External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA), and the QCTO issues the certificate.
- The National Certificate: Generic Management (SAQA ID 59201) is a legacy Services SETA qualification. Its last date for enrolment is 30 June 2028[2].
Time management is a skill these longer programmes depend on. Many teams therefore start with the one-day course and move on to a qualification later.
