Professor Mark Gillman

Senior training instructor and consultant at Business Optimization Training Institute.

Mark is an expert in his field and highly regarded amongst his peers. While head of the SA Brain Research Institute he researched diverse fields including pain perception, sexual function, stress and substance abuse: resulting in over 300 scientific publications, including 6 books and a popular training CD (Psychotropic analgesic nitrous oxide [PAN] for conscious sedation: Theoretical basis of practice), in its 3rd edition. His research has attracted coverage by TV, radio and print media throughout the world.

He is a registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and a professor of Primary Healthcare and Family Medicine. He is the pioneer in research and current treatment of addiction using nitrous oxide. He has held senior university appointments in SA, USA Europe and Israel and has trained thousands of professionals and senior executives on various subject matter within the ambit of his vast expertise. He has assisted many professionals in reducing and managing their stress through training in his bespoke Stress Management Course, which is also available as a book.

Mark’s formal qualifications include:
Numerous degrees at various South African Universities including Wits, Stellenbosch and University of the North. His highest academic qualification is a DSc in Clinical Psycho-pharmacology.

Leonie Varrie

Senior Project Manager and training consultant

She is an expert in the field of Lean Six Sigma, business analysis and project management. Leonie has over seven years of training, coaching and project experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology. She has saved companies cumulatively – over 15 million rand in revenue through her expert intervention.

Her expertise is coaching and mentoring, as well as identifying further process enhancements within any business using her project management and six sigma expertise.

Leonie’s qualifications include:

  • Yellow Belt trained and certified
  • Green Belt trained and certified
  • Black belt trained (certification in progress)
  • Train the trainer

Barbara Gillman

Senior training instructor and consultant at Business Optimization Training Institute.

She trains public speaking and communication skills in a confident and effective manner. She’s an adjudicator, and has adjudicated at many schools during public speaking festivals. She has one of the highest Speech and Drama qualifications, which shows in her methodology and approach to Public Speaking and Effective Presentations.

She has trained adults and children for television and radio. Barbara is a “voice-over” artist for the “Voice Bank” and a presenter for Radio Today. She is a Co-host, on the “Edward Chamberlain – Bell” programme, where she and her co-host interview individual people in the “lifestyle” industry. She is a published poet and has written two plays.

Barbara’s qualifications include:
an Associate Trinity College London, An licentiate Trinity College London, and a Fellowship from Trinity College, London. The Fellowship is a three-year diploma at post-graduate level. She is also an executive director of Voice Perfect.
